On May 6th 2017, the Maronite Mission of Charlotte held its annual “hafle”/party. It was a night full of dancing and laughter. Every year we invite a different singer to preform for us.

This year, we had the opportunity to have Danny Achkar, our singer who came from Lebanon, to provide an amazing night to remember. A stunning singer and entertainer, along with his band, sang their hearts out to represent the Lebanese culture. The annual event is one of the church’s largest fundraisers during the year. Raffles and a live auction of a statue of Mary was the highlight of the fundraiser.

Monseigneur McSweeney from the Saint Mathew parish was one of our honored guests during the party. We were able to celebrate his birthday with us. Our priest, Father Elias blessed the food and thanked everyone who made this event successful. Our Church’s youth performed their first dabke which turned out to be a big hit among the audience.

We all enjoyed the different homemade Lebanese appetizers and desserts prepared by the parish council followed by an exquisite dinner. We danced the night away until midnight. Just as a dabke dance involves cooperation in a group of people to form a community, our community builds on each other so that every event together is a memorable one. We are so proud to have a community that stays connected to their Lebanese roots and faith.
